1. Purchasing Power


Well after negotiations that the UN would be proud of Jan and I managed to exchange enough information to get the money transferred from Germany to England. We spoke on the phone a couple of times and I'm not proud to say I only speak one or two words of German  whereas Jan's English is outstanding!

The kit was ordered and arrived in 2 days.
NB. Don't use email or the internet to contact Mountfleet, it's a waste of time.
NNB. Mountfleet didn't charge the kit to my bank card for 2 weeks, most annoying!


Jan also sent over a bunch of stuff from Germany for use in the build, rudder servo, Electronic speed controller, geared motor, wire, putty and a Revell S100 - I think this was some kind of sarcasms or in joke from Jan because of all the problem I had with the Robbe S130 build! - (Here). I thought it was funny anyway and it's a very high quality kit that can be fairly easily converted to RC.


The speed controller supplied by Jan is made by CONRAD electronics TOP-40C 9-12volts and 40amps. www.conrad.com It computer type and the same size as a standard servo so should be a doodle to fit.


The servo is also made by Conrad and seems to be a standard type.
 


Also purchased was an Action "Puffer" sound module.....

We also purchased a Tomahawk smoke unit and oil  from Phil's models. It's not quite the one we thought it was going to be but it will do.

For test purposes, I will be using my own 4 channel radio set. This will be removed after completion and sending to Germany where Jan will fit his own radio...... what Frequency do they use in Germany anyway?

Motor choice was an interesting argument between 'Bradders' and myself. Jan initially wanted to fit a huge motor, a Graupner Speed 900BB torque or even a Power 1000 which is actually a starter motor for glow engines. I had several of my own motors and we have narrowed it down to 2 options, 2 synchronised ex-printer motors ( 3rd photo ) or a 555 motor from Model Motors Direct - more later.


Well all this just my opinion, but what do I know!
